Conquer Your Physique Goals: Effort and Action Required

In today’s age, MOST people are looking for quick results, which is exactly why MOST people don’t have the results they want…

I was lucky to learn at a young age that my physical capabilities are a direct result of the amount of effort that I put into it. Whether I wanted to exercise or not did not matter. When I was 5 years old my father would take me to the high school track, and I was not allowed to leave until I completed one mile. (Likely because he knew he needed to exercise and leaving a 5 year old at home is not in question). At first, I would mope around the track and take what I’m sure felt like ages to drag myself 4 laps around the track. Slowly but surely though, I would run a portion of the laps until eventually running the whole mile and then some. I not only became more physically fit, but I enjoyed the results and progress which led to an eventual love for fitness.

Think about a time where you accomplished something you were proud of. I am willing to bet that there was a high level of effort that went into achieving your desired outcome. Close your eyes, and remember back to that feeling you had the moment you accomplished this goal. Feels good, right?

What is your desired outcome regarding your physical health? Write it down, put it on a posted note, on your phone, wherever you will be reminded of this dream outcome. Then, think of one action you can take to get you closer to this goal. Then TAKE ACTION! It might suck, you probably don’t want to do it right now, or you are not sure how, but just do it. You will learn, adjust, and get better along the way. Then you will think of the second, and third step. Do this over and over again until it doesn’t suck and it becomes easier. Before you know it, you will have that feeling of accomplishment.

Anything you want is on the other side of doing something you probably don’t want to do. At first it will be hard, and you will question why and what you are doing. Take those internal questions as evidence that you are heading in the right direction.
